Thomas Earl ''Tip'' Martin, 64 of Roanoke Rapids died Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Our Community Hospital in Scotland Neck.

Thomas was a native of Halifax County, the son of the late Croman Martin and Lassie Barnes Martin. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Marie Harrup and Charity Martin, and four brothers, Frankie Joe Martin, Jerry Wayne Martin, William Martin, and Leo Martin.

He is survived by his wife Patricia Mizelle Martin of the home; two daughters, Cindy Stanfield and her husband, Paul, of Roanoke Rapids and Peggy Smith and her husband, Richard, of Portsmouth, VA; his son, Thomas Jones, of Raleigh; two sisters, Betty Jean Lassiter of Milwaukee, NC and Fannie Lee Bryant of Pendleton, NC; five grandchildren, Frankie Winslow, Jr., Heather Winslow, Ashley Winslow, Brittney Baker, and Kenleigh Stanfield; and three great-grandchildren, Kaylen Winslow, Kamden Winslow, and Natalie Austin.

Askew Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids is handling the arrangements, where the family will receive friends on Friday, February 17, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at 115 Steeplechase Run, Roanoke Rapids, NC.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, at Milwaukee Cemetery in Milwaukee, NC with Rev. Larry Matthews officiating.
